The Day Before It Rained is an eclectic collection of short stories, from quirky portraits to tales of LGBTQ+ relationships to eccentric takes on friendship, romance, and everything in between. From period pieces to modern day, from the magical to the mundane, from the heart of Kansas to the Yorkshire moors to the Tunisian desert, the stories span the years, travel the globe, and explore the spectrum of emotions as his characters discover love, loss, hope, and fear--in other words, the dubious joy of being human.
Rich Rubin has written fiction for decades. He also spent thirty years writing about travel and food (the best job in the world, literally), with over 1000 stories in print. He has ridden a camel in Tunisia and a llama in Argentina, seen the midnight sun in Norway, and interviewed the chefs at the Nobel Prize banquet (as well as hair braiders in Jamaica, tattoo artists in Tahiti, and musical legend Martha Reeves). His theater work as playwright and director has been seen in New York, Philadelphia, Seattle, and San Francisco. He lives in Sonoma County, California.
